Amrutha prashana

सर्वसिद्धिकरः पुष्यः’

'Sarvasiddhikar: Pushya:’

Amrutha Prashana is a process in which amrutha(or “HERBS WITH AMRUTHA properties)is given in the form of liquid, semi solid or paste form to children.

Age: Prashana could be administered to a new born infant to a 16 year old child.

Time and frequency of administration:

Prashana needs to be administered for six months, on the day of Pushya Nakshatra. This day arrives after every 27 days. Pushya constellation is said to have Pushti (Strengthening) and Poshana (Nourishing) qualities. Hence this constellation is chosen to administer.

Why Swarna Prashana on Pushya nakshatra?

Pushya is one among the 27 nakshatras.Pushya is considered as most auspicious among other stars, they call it “The Star of Nourishment” the word itself translates to “Nourisher” or “thrive”, etc. It means it provided nourishment like a how a mother take care of their kids.

No wonder Cow’s udder is one of the symbol for Pushya and if you look closer at the sky its arrangement looks similar to Cow’s udder. As we know cow’s nourishes us by milk, urine for medicinal purpose and cow dung for its bio-gas, natural and most powerful manure for plants. Even when a cow dies its helps others by its flush, skin, etc.. Cow is a true nourisher! in theveame amruta prashana nourishes the child in its physical, mental and spiritual aspects.

Thus it  is believed that all new works, started during this time, are fulfilled and give positive results
