On World No Tobacco Day, which is observed every yearvery year on May 31 to create awareness about the harmful effects of consuming tobacco.

Do you know , AYURVEDA has a reference of TOBACCO ?

 Ayurveda describes tobacco as Tamrakoota. Pittal (increasing body heat), Ushna (hot), Teekshna (sharp), and mood elevating substance that leads to delusions when taken in large doses.


 It's very important to create awareness about tobacco chewings it's effects on body , measures to quit and healing through it in the way of ayurveda . 

Effects of tobacco;

Tobacco is one of them & all forms of addictions are dangerous for human health, and smoking also causes various diseases such as  respiratory illness, lung diseases, heart attacks, hypertension, stroke , mouth cancer etc

Benefits of  Quiting tobacco;

  • Within 24 hours-BP and pulse start normalising, oxygen levels in blood increase and carbon monoxide decreases
  • Within 48 hrs- Nicotine level in blood cannot be detected and sense of smell and taste improves
  • By 72 hrs -Breathing easiers, energy increases
  • By 3 months - Blood circulation improves. 
  • By 6- 9 months-Reduction in bronchitis, smokers cough
  • By 5 tears Risk of heart disease and cancer is reduced

Measures to quit;

  • ​Chewing dry ginger
  • Chewing of dry Amalaki
  • Have raw ajwain
  • Eat a diet centered on milk, ghee, fresh foods and veggies.
  • Eat a sattvic diet of fresh and lightly cooked foods, avoiding all processed and preserved foods.
  • It is important to surround yourself with the right people when you decide to quit smoking.
  • Pick up a hobby to keep your mind away from the urge to smoke. 

Healing the effects of tobacco through ayurveda:

  • Drink an adequate amount of water, especially from a copper vessel. This helps to accumulate the wastes and release them.
  • Consume 1  teaspoon of triphala(Ayurvedic medicine for smokers lungs) every day before going to bed, to eliminate the deposited nicotine tar in your system.
  • Consumption of a measured mixture of ashwagandha, Bala, shatavari and ginseng every day, or a chyawanprash containing these help in detoxification
  • You can consume Cinnamon, 
  • Try to eat 2-3 Basil leaves every morning, this will reduce the ill-effects of smoking in your body.
  • Follow oral cleansing measures daily- gargling with medicated liquids, brushing daily etc

Resisting the urge to smoke with Yoga:

  • Kapalbhati
  • Bharastika Pranaya
  • Balasana
  • Bhujangasana
  • Take deep inhalations and exhalations

Although it will be a big challenge to stop the use of tobacco completely but it is not an impossible task share awareness, education, counseling and herbal treatment can stop or reduce the use of tobacco.

Taste and energy with Precious Parijatha

Tea has a special place in people’s hearts. The love for tea is such that there is also a day dedicated specially for this beverage. Every year on May 21 the International Tea Day is celebrated across the globe. This day is celebrated to recognise the long history of tea that goes back to more than 5,000 years. On this day, people are also reminded of the economic and cultural significance that this beverage has around worldwide. 

Tea as a hot beverage is a regular entertainer, a source of living, a refreshing drink, an excuse for discussions, a part of gossip culture and a household tradition in India.

On this special occasion we are sharing  magical fragnanted parijata tea. 

Parijat, fondly known as the Night Jasmine flower is well known not only for its ornamental nature but also for its wide range of medicinal qualities. 

Parijata holds a strong place in ayurvedic scriptures for the treatment of various disease conition since ancient times. According to the indian mythology parijata is mentioned as a "tea from heaven". 


METHOD OF PREPARATION

The following steps are followed while preparing  Ayurvedic teas;

  • Herb –parijata flowers are washed and pounded into paste. 
  • 1 part of  pounded paste + 16 Parts of water 
  • Boil in mild fire
  • Evaporate water by boiling till 1/8th reduction
  • Filter
  • Use it  with honey when cooled down Have it when fresh

DOSE -30- 150 ml

  • Do not use honey when it's too hot Or mix honey during boiling as it is toxic

Food - The Ruler of Life

 Man' s relentless aspiration to overcome the aliments and to keep himself healthy has compelled him to try many remedies.... 

Among them we are giving some gest sone recepies that one can try  to combait common health aliments in day to day life.

DALCHINI KSHEERAPAKA


 Ksheerapaka is an Ayurvedic dosage form to administer herbs in the medium of milk and water. In this, the milk processed with one or more medicinal herbs is given to combat specific conditions. 

Now lets move on to preparation,

Preparation method;

  • 1bark of dalchini{cinnamom} , 2-3 cardomom seeds,2cloves should be individually taken in the above said quantities.
  • They should be pounded individually so as to obtain their coarse powder.
  • These powders of all 3 ingredients are put into a big vessel consisting of water. 
  • The vessel is heated on moderate until ¼ of water remains in the form of the decoction. Same as the quantity of decoction, milk is added. 
  • The combination of milk and decoction are once again heated on mild (moderate) flame of fire. The ingredients are heated until all the water evaporate
  •  and only milk is left over
  • Filtered and is served warm.
Dose
72 ml - 2medium glass per day shall be consumed.

 VIRUDDHA AHARA- DEADLY DELICIOUS




 Viruddha Ahara is a unique concept described in Ayurveda. Viruddha Ahara referred in terms of food-food interactions, food processing interactions. 

Ayurveda clearly defines that certain diet and its combinations, which interrupts the metabolism of tissue, which inhibits the process of formation of tissue and which have the opposite property to the tissue are called as Viruddha Anna or incompatible diet. The food which is wrong in combination, which has undergone wrong processing, which is consumed in incorrect dose, which is consumed in incorrect time of day and in wrong season can lead to Viruddha Ahara which thus causes ill effects in body leading to diseases. 

Some common examples of viruddha Ahara;

1. Desha Viruddha;consumption of alcohol in desert land.

2. Kaal Viruddha :-  consumption of spicy pavbhaji and masal-pav in summer.

3.Agni Viruddha:-consuming Churmura (popcorn etc.) in excessive hungry condition.

4.Matra Viruddha:- Cow’s Ghee + Honey in equal proportion. 

5. Saatmya viruddha;Chinese food by Indians.

6. Dosha Viruddha :-Curd mixed with rice for skin disease.

7. Sanskara Viruddha :-Reheating Food items - French Fries, Reheating 

oil which is used once, Heated Honey

8. Veerya Viruddha:-  Fish with Milk. 

9. Krama Viruddha:- Sweet Dishes after meal. 

10. Koshtha Viruddha:-Barbeque food and baked food consumed by person 

who is habitual to Constipation. 

11. Awastha Viruddha:-  Alcohol consumption by Laborers. 

12. Parihara Viruddha :Cold drinks after Samosa 

13. Paak Viruddha :- Half baked - Half fried egg 

14. Upachaara Viruddha :- Drinking cold water after steam bath. 

15. Samyoga Viruddha; Strawberry milkshake, Banana milkshake

16. Hrut Viruddha :- Consuming food items which not pleasant to your mind-Bitter melon, Decoctions for Children. 

17. Sampat Viruddha;fruits which haven’t fulfilled their original taste or damaged taste or over ripped. 

18. Vidhi Viruddha:- Not consuming food which is hot and fresh food from Lunch box

So, one should have proper understanding of all the types of viruddha Aahara to avoid consumption of Incompatible dietary articles of today’s fast food era.

Avoid food combinations, including:

  • Milk is not compatible with fruits, melons, sour fruits, and bananas. It should not be consumed with salty items such as samosa/paratha/khichadi. Don’t boil it with tea.
  • Grains should not be consumed with Tapioca and Fruits.
  • One should not consume fruits and milk with vegetables.
  • Beans are the wrong combination with eggs, milk, fish,  fruits, yogurt, and meat.
  • Yogurt is to be avoided with cheese, hot drinks, sour fruits, milk, mangoes, nightshades, beans, eggs, fish.
  • Fat and proteins are mismatched foods as they need different digestive juices.
  • Cheese cannot be paired with eggs, fruits, hot drinks, milk, beans, yogurt.
  • Proteins are not compatible with starches and their collective consumption may result in delayed digestion.
  • Nightshades (tomato, potato, etc) are not compatible with fruits like cucumber, melon, and dairy products.
  • Milk, yogurt, tomatoes, and cucumber are incompatible with lemons.
Ayurveda suggests a long list of wrong food combinations. The list can guide you towards bad choices of food. By abandoning these bad combinations, you can avoid fermentation, indigestion, and putrefaction.
